The SUSRUR project is pleased to announce the release of the SUSRUR Roadmap to Increase the Competitiveness of SMEs in Rural & Remote Areas, a practical guide designed to support rural tourism and service SMEs in strengthening their long-term sustainability, resilience, and innovation capacity.

Developed by the SUSRUR consortium, the Roadmap provides a step-by-step approach to help SMEs plan and implement their green and digital transition in a structured and realistic way. It supports businesses in understanding where they stand today, identifying key challenges and opportunities, and defining achievable short-, medium-, and long-term actions tailored to their local context.

The Roadmap guides SMEs through essential phases such as self-assessment, goal setting, strategy development, implementation, and performance monitoring. It introduces useful tools and frameworks related to sustainability, digitalisation, circular economy models, and EU funding opportunities, helping SMEs align their business strategies with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and emerging trends in rural tourism. It can be used independently or in combination with other SUSRUR resources, including the Toolkit and the E-Learning Platform.

The SUSRUR Roadmap reflects the project’s commitment to empowering rural SMEs across Europe by providing clear guidance and actionable steps to enhance competitiveness, foster innovation, and support sustainable development in rural and remote areas.
